Racketball – Bridgnorth v Shrewsbury SRC B

A closely fought battle all the way with Bridgnorth emerging winners. Dave Sharland lost to Terry Jones 1-3 in a good contest that ebbed and flowed throughout but a few unforced errors by Dave proved costly in the end. Mike Andrea beat Stan Rogers 3-2 in a tight contest, Mike nit able to keep tight lengths and Stan ‘inspector gadget arms’ managing to volley the ball from extrordinary positions, at 2-2 in was anyones match, but in the end Stan ran out of steam and Mike just pipped him. Ian and Damian had a great match with Ian winning 3-2, the first game seemed to be a ‘who could hit the ball the hardest’ contest with both players using a high pace to try and gain the upper hand, Damian controlling the ‘T’ with minimum movement and moving Ian to all corners of the court, but Ian’s determination won him the first game, damian fought back and comfortably won the next with Ian putting a few into the tin. Ian won the third with both players having to cover the whole court to keep in the long rallies and thought that was job done. Damian had other ideas though and promptly won the fourth at a canter. Damian made a good start to the fifth with Ian making a string of errors and pulled out to a 8-3 lead, Ian kept battling and eventually won the game 11-8.
